ABOUT
Angelica Olstad is an interdisciplinary artist and producer living in Brooklyn, NY. A classically trained pianist, her work focuses on themes of the bi-racial American identity, high density living environments, mental wellness, and creating community through immersive performance experiences. Described by The Wire as “openly appreciative of the constituents of a tradition while at the same time calling fundamental assumptions into question,” Angelica uses classically sourced music and experimental storytelling techniques as a conduit to explore racial identity. As an artist she strives to challenge typical performance practice conventions by deconstructing classical forms and reworking them into new multimedia pieces and she has performed her works both internationally and across the U.S.She has performed at Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Melbourne Recital Center, Krannert Concert Hall, Elastic Festival, La Mama Theatre, and Alvin Ailey Dance Center. She is a 2024 New York State Council of the Arts grant recipient and a 2025 Brooklyn Arts Council grant recipient for her ongoing project, Music for Healing. As a producer, her work ranges from brand activations, live music shows, experience design, video, and installations and she has worked with brands such as Samsung, Meta, Google, and more.
She is also a yoga and meditation teacher specializing in effective communication, innovation, and strategic thinking for corporate work cultures. Her work as a cultural producer and as a thought leader has been recognized and featured in publications such as MindBodyGreen, Buzzfeed, Timeout NY, and Well + Good.
